After the limited-overs contest between the two nations in September and October and their ensuing struggle in the T20 International final, the focus now switches to the biggest form of the game. In 2020, Pakistan visited England during the Covid-19 virus and lost the entire series 1-0.
This was their most recent Test game. England won the first Test thanks to some outstanding backup play from Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes, while James Anderson eventually finished the campaign by taking 600 Test wickets at Southampton.
Only two of Pakistan’s home Test matches against England have ended in defeat. One was the memorable triumph by Nasser Hussain’s team in the pitch-black at Karachi, and the other occurred more than 60 decades previously when Ted Dexter and Imtiaz Ahmed respectively headed their respective teams.
This time, Ben Stokes and Babar Azam will lead the squads, with Stokes looking for a repeat of England’s fantastic summer and Babar pointing to his team’s successful home record against England.
