In terms of the past of the IPL, its 1st season started in 2008, a year after India won the T20 World Cup. 2008, after defeating the Chennai Super Kings in the tournament’s final game, the Rajasthan Royals became the first IPL winners. In 2009, the now-defunct Deccan Chargers received the title.
IPL grew in popularity each season because T20 legends from many regions wanted to participate in the competition.

IPL Winner 2023 | Chennai Super Kings
In a thrilling match, the Gujarat Titans set a challenging target of 214/4. But rain interrupted the game when the Chennai Kings began their innings.
After a two-hour delay, the match resumed with a revised target using the DLS method, requiring CSK to chase 171 runs in 15 overs. In the last over, CSK completed the target and won their 5th trophy of IPL.
IPL Winner 2022 | Gujarat Titans
The Gujarat Titans won the TATA IPL 2022 after beating the Rajasthan Royals. The final match was between the Rajasthan Royals & Gujarat Titans at Motera. Rajasthan bats first and scored 130 runs by losing nine wickets.
After Gujarat showed the best performance, chased the score in 18 overs, and won the match by seven wickets. Hardik Pandya becomes the man of the game.
IPL Winner 2021 | Chennai Super Kings
The Chennai Super Kings won the Indian Premier League 2021 season. The final game was between the Chennai Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders in Dubai.
CSK batted first and made a big target of 192 runs in 20 overs, losing three wickets. Kolkata Knight Riders did not show their best performance in this match. They scored 165 runs by losing nine wickets in 19 overs.
So CSK defeated KKR by 27 runs and won their 4th-time tournament victory. Chennai Kings won their 4th IPL trophy this year. So, they become the 2nd successful team in IPL.
IPL Winner 2020 | Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians become the champion of the Indian Premier League 2020. The match was held between Dehli Capital & Mumbai Indians. Dehli won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first inning, Delhi scored 156 runs by losing seven wickets.
After Mumbai started the inning with good batting and completed the target in 18 overs, losing five wickets, this was the 2nd in a row and the overall 5th victory of Mumbai. Trent Boult becomes the player of the match. Mumbai also won the Fairplay Award this year.
IPL 2019 Champion | Mumbai Indians
The final match of the 2019 IPL was held between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Kings. Mumbai defeated the Chennai Kings and won the game by one run. The Mumbai batted first and made a target of 148/8 runs in 20 overs.
After Chennai Kings made a good start and scored 148 runs in 20 overs, the last bowl decided the match. Shardul Thakur tried making one run for the superover to win the game. So Mumbai recorded their 4th championship this year.
IPL 2018 Winner | Chennai Super Kings
The 2018 Indian Premier League winner team was Chennai Super Kings after beating Hyderabad. This was the 3rd time when Chennai Kings won the IPL trophy. By winning the toss, the Chennai Kings chose to bowl first.
In the 1st inning, the Hyderabad team set a target of 178 runs by losing six wickets. After the 2nd innings, CSK achieved the target in 18 overs by losing only two wickets.

Mumbai Indians won the IPL 2017 season after beating Pune. Mumbai Indians won the match and decided to bat first. Mumbai scored 129 runs by losing eight wickets in 20 overs.
In the second inning, Rising Pune Supergiants take the match to the last over. In the last ball, Pune needed only one run to win the game, but they did not make it. So Mumbai won the match by one run.
2016 IPL Winner | Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Sunrisers Hyderabad won the 2016 Indian Premier League after beating Bangalore. Hyderabad batted first and made a big target of 208 runs for Bangalore.
After Bnaglore showed their best batting skills and scored 200 runs by losing seven wickets, they did not achieve their target and lost the match by eight runs. Ben Cutting became the game’s player.
IPL 2015 Winner | Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians were the winner of the IPL 2015 season. This was the second time Mumbai Indians won the IPL trophy; the first they won was in 2013. Chennai Kings won the toss in this final match and decided to bowl. Mumbai made a big target of 202 runs by losing five wickets.
Afterward, Chennai King’s batters were not in good form and lost the wickets individually. They only made 161 runs in 20 overs by losing eight wickets. Mumbai won this match by 41 runs and registered his name in the IPL winners list.
IPL 2014 Champion | Kolkata Knight Riders
After defeating the Punjab Kings, the Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2014 tournament. Kolkata won the toss and chose to bowl first. Punjab set a massive target of 199 runs for the KKR.
KKR batters performed best and chased the score in the 19 overs. MK Pandey made 94 runs on 50 balls, which helped Kolkata to win the match. This is Kolkata’s second victory, while the first victory came in 2012.
IPL Winner 2013 | Mumbai Indians
The Mumbai Indians won the Indian Premier League 2013 after beating Chennai Kings. This is the first time Mumbai Indians won the IPL trophy. In the first inning, MI scored 148 runs by losing nine wickets.
In the second inning, Chennai King’s batters did not show the best performance. Only MS Dhoni scores 63 runs in 45 balls and pushes the CSK score. But CSK only scored 125 runs and lost the match by 23 runs.
IPL 2012 Winner | Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata won the Indian Premier League 2012, so they added their name to the IPL winners list. KKR won this match by five wickets after defeating the Chennai Super Kings. This is the first time Kolkata has won the Indian Premier League title.
By batting first, CSK made 190 runs by losing three three wickets. After the Kolkata batters performed fantastically, they chased the score in the 19 overs. Manvinder Bisla scored 89 runs on 48 balls, which helped KKR to win the match.

Deccan Chargers won the 2nd season of the IPL and registered his name in the IPL winners list. Deccan Chargers won the match by six runs after beating Bangalore.
In the first inning, Deccan made a target of 143 runs by losing six wickets. Herschelle Gibbs’s fifty helped his team to make this big target. RCB did not chase the target, losing nine wickets. They only scored 137 runs.

Most Times IPL Winners
The Mumbai Indians have won the IPL trophy five times, becoming the IPL’s most successful team. With four trophies, Chennai Super Kings are now in second place.
The only other IPL champion is the two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Deccan Chargers, and Rajasthan Royals have all teams won a one-time IPL.
Only three teams, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, have failed to claim the title despite competing in each of the past 14 editions.
