Bugti Cricket Stadium History

On 29 Oct 1954, the first game was held at this venue. It was then known as the Racecourse Ground, a name it carried until 1989.

During this time, the stadium hosted numerous thrilling cricket encounters, creating cherished memories for players and fans.

One standout event in the Bugti Cricket Stadium’s history occurred in October 1996, when it hosted a captivating ODI match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

For its existence from 1954 to 2008, the Bugti Stadium proudly hosted a total of twenty-two first-class matches. These matches showcased the stadium’s excellent facilities and attracted talented cricketers nationwide.

This ground gets another critical milestone as the PCB selected it as one of the venues for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019-20.

This announcement brought great excitement to the cricketing community, particularly in Balochistan, as it marked the return of first-class games to the region after an absence since 2008.

During the 2019-20 season, Balochistan had the honour of playing four games at the Bugti Cricket Venue, marking a historic moment for the province.

These matches renovated Balochistan’s cricketing spirit and highlighted the region’s immense talent and passion for the sport.
