The Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium is the biggest of its kind with 20,846 bench seats. Aside from gymnasiums and the World Cup Village, which has space for more than eight teams, these things make it the stunning stadium, constructed in 15 months, and features two top-notch FIH-approved hockey fields.
The Birsa Munda Stadium is located on 50 acres of land on the Biju Patnaik University of Technology campus in the Sundergarh district of Odisha.
The newly installed astroturf on the pitch was tested by a 3 games Test series between Korea Junior & India Junior at the Birsa Munda International Hockey venue before the hockey World Cup 2023.

Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium History
According to the requirement set by the government of international hockey, 2 host stadiums must be made for the 2023 Hockey World Cup. After this, in Feb 2021, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the building of a brand-new hockey stadium in Rourkela.
The Birsa Munda venue and its cutting-edge conveniences were quickly built with the help of over a thousand employees from all around the nation.

Birsa Munda Stadium Facilities
The venue has services like a changing room, a shower, an adjacent training field, a health club, a swimming pool, or lodgings that are close to the facilities.
There are two levels in the stadium: the upper dome and the bottom bowl. Six parking lots are located within a 100-meter area of the arena.
While the recently constructed Rourkela airport served as a center for the athletes, staff, & officials traveling for the FIH World Cup, the renowned Panposh market in Rourkela underwent renovation.
