Sri Lanka will play its opening match against the Islamic State of Afghanistan in Dubai on August 27, 2022.
Sri Lanka has named a 20-man squad made by Dasun Shanaka for the Asia Cup Twenty20 tournament beginning later this month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The tournament was initially held in Sri Lanka; however, it shifted to the UAE because of the political turmoil of Sri Lanka and, therefore, the depression within the cricket-lover island nation. Sri Lanka has witnessed months of food and fuel shortages, blackouts, and runaway inflation in the wake of its worst money crisis.
Sri Lanka plays its opening match against the Islamic State of Afghanistan in Dubai on August 27, 2022. The last and final game will occur in Dubai on September 11, 2022.
Binura Fernando and Kasun Rajitha were selected within the original squad; however, they won’t tour due to injuries throughout the SLC-invited T20 League 2022.
