India Squad for Asia Cup 2023
Finally, the India Squad for Asia Cup 2023 has been announced. Today, on Monday, August 8, BCCI, through his Twitter account, finalized the Indian team that represents the Asia Cup.
Former India skipper Virat Kohli and current T20 vice-captain KL Rahul are back in the lineup. Rahul contracted COVID-19 at NCA as he was recovering from a sports hernia operation, while Kohli requested a break due to his poor performance.
Arshdeep Singh is India’s third seamer, and Rohit Sharma has been appointed captain. Additionally, Deepak Hooda got a mention, making him India’s third backup bowler.
Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel, viewed as a comparable substitute for Ravindra Jadeja, were all left out. In addition, Ravichandran Ashwin, the 15th player, has been selected as a back spinner, with Ravi Bishnoi serving as the fourth tweaker.
Jasprit Bumrah would have led India’s fast bowling, but a back issue has prevented him from playing. In his absence, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Avesh Khan will serve as India’s top seamers.
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were both unavailable for selection because of injury, according to the BCCI. At the NCA in Bengaluru, they are now receiving treatment.
