When he began playing cricket with his brother Mokhlesur Rahman every morning, 40 kilometers (25 miles) away from their house, Mustafizur’s interest in the sport increased. He occasionally skipped school to play cricket, which impacted his studies.

Mustafizur used a tennis ball to play as a batsman before he realized he could bowl. He said that he was inspired by his idol, the Pakistani Bowler Mohammad Amir.

He was on the verge of entering the Al Noor mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, on March 15, 2019, along with several other members of the Bangladesh test squad, when a terrorist assault started.

The squad as a whole was “seriously touched.” On March 22, Mustafizur eventually got married. The brother of Mustafizur believed that getting married would enable him to “overcome the shock” of having seen the assault in New Zealand.

On April 24, 2015, Mustafizur’s first international match was against Pakistan. He bowled Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez out game, who had been playing for Pakistan for a long time.

India went to Bangladesh in June 2015 for one Test match and three One-Day Internationals. Mustafizur was chosen to be part of the ODI team. In the first match of the series, Mustafizur showed his potential by taking five wickets in 9.2 overs against the strong Indian batting lineup.

Mustafizur became the tenth Bowler in the history of One-Day Internationals to take five wickets in his debut. In the second one-day international, Mustafizur got an additional six wickets. This helped him break the record formerly held by Zimbabwe’s Brian Vitori for the most wickets by any bowler after two ODIs. He achieved history by capturing 13 wickets in a three-match ODI series, completing the last match with two wickets.

Mustafizur got five wickets in three One-Day Internationals the following month to help Bangladesh defeat South Africa 2–1. He made his Test debut against South Africa in the same series when he took four wickets.

In April 2015, Mustafizur made his international cricket debut against Pakistan in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match. Later in the year, he participated in his maiden One-Day International and Test matches against India and South Africa.

Mustafizur competed in the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup before his international career.   In July 2015, Mustafizur made his Test debut against South Africa. He was the first player to win “Man of the Encounter” honors in his Test and One-Day International debuts after claiming four wickets in his first match.

He did well in his first BPL season and was outstanding in the bilateral series against Zimbabwe and South Africa, which featured a Test debut. Mustafizur debuted on the global scene in the IPL auction when Sunrisers Hyderabad selected him in early 2016.

Soon after, he received confirmation of a deal with Sussex for English domestic limited-overs cricket. He made sure that none of his new employers were in any question about their choice as one of the greatest bowlers in the World T20, capping it off with a five-wicket haul against New Zealand while confusing them with his assortment of cuts.
