The winner of the ICC World Cup’s most wickets receives the Golden Ball Award. Umar Gul is the 1st player who won the golden ball in the T20 World Cup. He won this award twice, first in 2007 and the other in 2009; he took 13 wickets in both tournaments.

During the 2010 World Cup, Dirk Nannes was at his best and achieved the award of the “Golden Ball.” In the tournament, Nannes got 14 wickets in the seven matches for the Australian team.
Ajanta Mendis in 2012
In cricket, Sri Lanka has produced some of the top spinners. Another wonder spinner was Ajantha Mendis, who won the “Golden Ball” honour at the 2012 T20 World Cup. In just six games, he got 15 wickets, with a best of 6/8.
Imran Tahir in 2014
One of the most excellent parts of the cricket ball is Imran Tahir. The professional leg-spinner has helped South Africa win many matches in every format. In the 2014 tournament, he shared the record with Ahsan Malik of the Netherlands with 12 wickets each. However, Tahir only played in five games; thus, he was given the “Golden Ball” award.
Mohammad Nabi in 2016
During the 2016 World Cup in India, the Afghan all-rounder was at the peak of his abilities. He completed the tournament with the most wickets taken, winning the “Golden Ball” prize. Nabi recorded a top total of 4/20 while taking 12 wickets in seven games.
Wanindu Hasaranga in 2021
Another spinner from Sri Lanka won the previous “Golden Ball” title. At the UAE’s hosting of the 2021 World Cup, Wanindu Hasaranga showed his best skills. Hasaranga recorded a top result 3/9 while taking 16 wickets in eight games. He also makes a record for getting the most wickets in one tournament.
