On Wednesday, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) unveiled a 17-person roster for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2022, which will take place in the United Arab Emirates from August 27 to September 11. (UAE).
Along with Qais Ahmad and Nijat Masoud, Samiullah Shinwari has replaced Sharafuddin Ashraf among the 16 players who are a part of the Afghanistan team for the continued Ireland T20I Series. Noor Ahmad, a left-arm wrist-spinner substituted for Mujeeb Ur Rahman for the Ireland series, has also moved to the side.
The Asia Cup is a significant event for us, and as such, we have chosen our finest available players for the competition, according to chief selector Noor Malikzai. For the Asia Cup, Samiullah Shinwari has been included in the squad.
He is in excellent shape and can help the batting unit, which already has Ibrahim Zadran, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Najibullah Zadran, and Mohammad Nabi, gain more momentum. Even though Shinwari hasn’t competed in an international match since March 2020, he did well in the most recent Shpageeza Cricket League 2022. He showed that he is a viable option to bolster our middle order.
For a 5-match T20I series, the Afghanistan National Team is currently playing in Ireland. After Wednesday’s series finale, the team will fly to the United Arab Emirates for the Asia Cup.
