Career

Domestic Career

During his young age, Brooks was considered a cricket genius.  In the U-19 world cup 2006, Brooks played for the West Indies U-19 team. In 2007, he made his 1st cricket debut for Barbados. He managed the West Indies as a skipper during the U-19 Cricket World Cup 2008.

He was a member of the Barbados team for a few years, but he never showed his full potential. He had a very poor year in 2012 when he only managed to score 76 runs at an average of 8.44, which resulted in his dismissal from the club.

Brooks can’t show their best performance in another first-class game until 2015, but on further his return, he instantly registered his first-ever century in the division against the Windward Islands. He scored 3091 runs with an average of 38.63 during the past 5 years, including 5 centuries and 20 half-centuries.

By leading West Indies A, the West Indies’ second team, in unofficial Test matches starting in 2016, Brooks took his first steps toward Test cricket.

In 2018 in England, he played for the West Indies A against the A India team, in this tournament he scored 91 runs in 1st match. In the 2nd match, he makes 121 runs not out and becomes the top run scorer in the series.

International Debut

He got chosen for the West Indies international team in 2019 for the Test squad against India for the first time. Moreover, he has been granted the opportunity to participate in 11 Test matches, during which time he has collected 501 runs thanks to a century and three half-centuries.

Then, on December 13, 2021, Brooks made his T20 international debut while playing against Pakistan in Karachi after being chosen for the T20I squad for the tournament against Pakistan in 2021. He then played against Ireland in Kingston on January 8, 2022, for his first ODI. And Brooks has already had the opportunity to play in 15 One-Day Internationals, during which time he has amassed 532 runs thanks to a century and three half-centuries.

CPL Debut

He was chosen for the first time in the Caribbean Premier League in the St. Kitts squad during the 2016 CPL season. In the 2017 CPL season, he was a member of the Nevis Patriots team. He has only had the opportunity to participate in 4 CPL matches so far in each of the two CPL seasons, and in those matches, he has scored 119 runs at an average of 23.80 with 120.20 SR.
