Career

Domestic Career

He joined Sri Lanka’s team to prepare for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was included in Dambulla’s squad for the SLC T20 League in August of the same year.

Binura Fernando was chosen by the Jaffna Stallions in the first round of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) in October 2020. He was selected to compete for the SLC Reds in the SLC Open T20 League in August of that year.

He was chosen as the players’ pick for the 2021 LPL to play for the Kandy Warriors in November 2021. The Jaffna Kings hired him in July 2022 in preparation for the 3rd LPL edition.

International Career

He was selected to play for Sri Lanka in a series of  T20I matches against Pakistan in July 2015.

On July 30, 2015, he played his first T20I. Shahid Afridi was struck by his delivery, giving him his maiden international wicket. He was a Sri Lankan ODI team member that played Bangladesh in May 2021.

He participated in Sri Lanka’s first ODI match against Bangladesh on 28-5-2021. In September 2021, One of Sri Lanka’s four extra players for the T20 World Cup is Fernando.
